RUMER: SINGER/SONGWRITER

RUMER: The British singer/songwriter is the biggest news since Adele. Her debut album SEASONS OF MY SOUL, out 11/1/2010 is now available on iTunes.

Rumer is virtually an unknown in the USA; her popularity is primarily in European markets. She has received a nomination for a BRIT award as Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Female Solo Artist, and she recently began touring in the West and Mid-West.

Sarah Joyce, born in Pakistan, migrated to London as a young girl with her family.  She adopted the stage name of Rumer after the author Rumer Godden. She has also performed in a band as Sarah Joyce.

In 2010 Rumer was invited by Burt Bacharach to record on SINGS BACHARACH AT CHRISTMAS, released in the UK.

Rumer is being compared to Karen Carpenter of The Carpenters (1969-1983). Her soft soulful voice is very pleasing to listen to, and the comparison is valid, a nice change of pace for your collection.  Enjoy!

Check out the latest rage in the UK, and possibly the USA:

DION: SINGER/SONGWRITER

Dion DiMucci, better known as just “Dion” an American singer songwriter, doo-wop, pop, oldies rock, R& B and blues soul singer has just released his 38st studio album TANK FULL OF BLUES on iTunes, and on Amazon,  today 1/24/2012. The music just keeps pouring out of this guy who came from the 50-60’s era, to the present day blues singer.

You may recall some of his hits; “Run Around Sue”, “The Wanderer”, “Ruby Baby”, “Sea Cruise”, “I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man”, “Shout”, “A Teenager in Love”, “Abraham, Martin & John” and what seems like a zillion more hits.

The teen idol has come and gone with the music trends and in his personal life, but he is back stronger than ever with his 3rd blues album.

A born again Christian, Dion spent some time in the Contemporary Christian genre, earning recognition and a nomination by Grammy for Best Male Gospel Performance in 1984. He gradually ventured into the world of blues around 2006 and released BRONX IN BLUE, and 2007 SON OF SKIP JAMES, both easy listening blues albums.

As a practicing Roman Catholic he pursues prison ministry and reaches out to men going through addiction recovery programs. His faith runs deep, and an example on the album is his track “Bronx Poem”.

The 1989 'Rock&Roll Hall of Fame' Inductee has remastered himself from teen idol to modern day (POP) singer into the late 60’s, to contemporary Christian artist to the polished blues artist of today. At the age of 72, he just keeps on ticking.

The album,  acoustic and electric has an honest, earthy vibe. This seasoned musician has nothing to hide and spills his guts with a type of story telling as only Dion can do, definitely worth a few downloads, if not the entire album.

MICHAEL HENRY & JUSTIN ROBINETT: MUSICIANS/SINGERS

Michael Henry & Justin Robinett,  the YouTube superstars, just released their second album
 HARAMONIC HYPERBOLE out 1/6/2012.

The pair has posted numerous music videos on YouTube of recorded covers songs they make their own with effortless harmonies, and piano duets. With millions of views and thousands of followers, they have made it official, and now have their very own website with videos.

Their 2 part harmony is a good as it gets, remininest of 'Savage Garden’. Henry commented “no one knew he could sing, except in the shower or in the car”.

Henry is a 3rd year law student at Texas Tech and met Robinette when he came to Texas Tech as a Music Performance Major. They were members of the TT Drum line, Henry the captain and Robinette was on the tenor line. They ended up as roommates for 2 years, and the magic began. The dynamic duo is refreshing, energetic, and their videos while they play serious music, sometimes have corny events happening in the background, not necessary, but they are college students, and having fun with this.

Their music is now on iTunes, and for sale on their website, the proceeds are funding for college expenses. If you enjoy melodious music, you will enjoy this album of current covers.
