ANTHONY HAMILTON: SINGER/SONGWRITER

 December 2011 BACK TO LOVE
Anthony Hamilton,  brings his sweet vocals into the present with varied arrangements and various producers on his 7th studio album. His style is somewhat 70's but,  like many others he has evolved from the Rap world, and with  that  he brings a fresh sound to the R&B soul sound. Hamilton  is showing much promise and has received a lot of recognition, and rightfully so.

§  2010 -  Best Male R&B Vocal Performance: "The Point Of It All" (Nominated)

Like many of the great soul-singers he started singing in church at the age of 10, now the father of 5 children, the latest 1 year old twin boys, has given him a new perspective, after 20 years in the business.

BACK TO LOVE has brought Hamilton to higher ground, he has the recognition and his vocals are the best ever; he sings his heart out and it shows. For sure, he will be around 20 years from now.

LEE FIELDS & THE EXPRESSIONS: SINGER/SONGWRITER

Lee Fields & the Expressions recently released his latest album FAITHFUL MAN. The unadulterated, pure, gut-bucket soul singer brings us his finest hour in his latest version of retro-soul, with gritty vocals, that reach the young, the mature and everyone in between.

Oliver Wang of NPR states “Fields is retro soul royalty, with a voice that recalls the heyday of Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding & James Brown”

With the resurgence of music from the 60’s, Mad Men, and all things retro the soul music made famous comes forward with soul singers like Lee Fields, a former 70’s hare-core funkster.

The Funkster Fields recorded with small labels and had moderate success. In the 80’s he was hardly mentioned. But the 90’s he came back as a soul/blues singer targeting heavy female audiences on the southern circuit, oozing with charisma, and belting the blues.

With 30 years of experience and retrospect he incorporates the elements of today’s sounds into his music, but stays true to the soulful singer he has always been.

VEL OMARR: SINGER/SONGWRITER

The Delta R&B Soul Man just released THE GREATEST SONG I EVER SANG (February 7, 2012), his 4th album. Vel has been around a while, performing with the DooWoop groups, primarily as a tenor with various group.  He was with The Robins, as their second lead, until 1995, and then begin touring with Brenton Wood, in 2003 he joined The Olympics. He has performed with Little Anthony  & The Imperials, The Penquins, The Coasters, Gene Chandler, The Flamingos, The Platters and many more. From the list you get the idea where he is coming from. This album fits right in with the trend today of 60’s soul music revival.

Vel Omarr adopted the phrasing of Sam Cooke whom he credits his vocal inspiration as a young boy. He developed his technique along with his stage presence, into his own style and sounds very near the vocals of the late great Sam Cooke. His passion and flare are ever present in his performance and he it shows, he loves to sing.

“Give Me Your Love” a very passionate love song, with the rhythm that could you make swoon in the arms of that special someone. Superior vocals!

“Don’t Give More than You Feel” Upbeat, and a message if you give more than you feel, you won’t be for real. Abstinence is the message here.

“A Women’s Love”  Her knows women, a true romantic.

“Everybody Needs Somebody Sometime”  Passionate, sensual delivery has one reminiscing, ageless, in background or loud and singing along, or spinning your love on the dance floor. So Sweet!

CJ HILTON R&B SOUL SINGER/SONGWRITER

Allow me to introduce you to CJ  Hilton; The 21 year old from Baltimore MD who is making a big splash on the R&B Soul music scene, has just released an EP out 3/5/2012, COLD SUMMER, with the release of his debut album not that far off in the future. He has been compared to Marvin Gaye.

He is already a Grammy nominee for “Never Give You Up” for Best Duo/Group with Vocals, with Stevie Wonder and Raphael Saadig.

He has previous single releases in the R&B/Hip-hop genre, but not to be stereotyped he has rebooted his solo career and with the release of the debut album he brings up to date influences and soulful versatility.

His smooth vocals bring promise of a long future in this industry.  He can have it all, and with friends like Stevie Wonder, Saadig, and Mario he has an even greater chance of making it in the music business, but it is really his voice that will make him the success that he is sure to be.   Good Luck CJ Hilton!
