DEVON ALLMAN: SINGER/SONGWRITER

DEVON ALLMAN, released his first solo album TURQUOISE, out 2/2013. The blues rock, singer songwriter is on his own and commanding our attention. The former lead of the group Honeytribe (2005-2010) and Royal Southern Brotherhood is toning it down with soulful tracks that make you stop and listen to the lyrics as his rich baritone voice belts out songs like ‘Time Machine’ or ‘Stop Dragging My Heart Around’.

His distinctive vocals uniquely resonate, soul, and blues qualifying him as a legend in the making. His guitar finesse is undeniable, and the acoustic versions of his recording and live performances demonstrate the talent he has been honing since his early teens. 

The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, so to speak,  because as his dad the infamous Gregg Allman, was a blues rocker, so is his son, whom he did not even meet until his teens. (His parents we divorced when he was toddler and he lived with his Mother in the south). While they both possess unique baritone voices, they are distinctly different, and as a blues fan you just know when hear that voice, there is a place for him in the Blues Hall of Fame.

ROBBEN FORD: MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER

Robben Ford,  Musician/songwriter released his latest studio album BRINGING IT BACK HOME, February 2013. The American (California born), blues, jazz/fusion, rock guitarist, brings us a skillfully created album with his renditions of cover songs, by some of the best in the business and 2 original tracks. 

Ford says” My concept was to put great players together with songs that have deep roots and rich emotional terrain, and to just let something beautiful happen. As it turns out, that’s exactly what occurred. The results are really pure and the most fun I’ve had making an album in years”.

Ford has been associated with John  Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, the Yellow Jackets, Chic Corea, Gregg Allman Band, and L.A. Express, as well as The Charles Ford Band and others.

The five-time Grammy nominee has played and toured with Joni Mitchell, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Miles Davis, Michael McDonald, Bob Dylan, Larry Carlton and many more notable musicians/bands.

Ford originally started out his musical career as a saxophonist, and played into his twenties. He began playing the guitar in his early teens, but really became enamored with the guitar when he had the opportunity to see Jimi Hendrix, and various other famous players at work.

Now the a Master of his craft, Ford travels the world offering Guitar workshops. He also offers an interactive guitar Master Class, called the Blues Revolution.

ADAM JENSEN: SINGER/SONGWRITER

Adam Jensen released his debut solo EP:  

HEAD ON A STRING January 29, 2013.

The former lead singer of Mission Hill, an alternative/Indie rock group, has become a viable songwriter and is pursuing his career as singer/songwriter.

Adam has received recognition for his songwriting and vocal ability including an LA Music Award for "Indie Male Vocalist of the Year".  The Boston based group Mission Hill previously released various EP’s and a couple of CD’s. They have opened for well known artists like Bon Jovi, Third Eye Blind, Kid Rock, Train, and many more. 

 All songs on the EP are written by Jensen, with the exception of ‘Lost Without You’ which was co-written with Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. Oddly Jensen sounds like Thomas, same tone, phrasing.  You can hear it in all of the tracks on the EP. Not a bad thing, just a familiarity to the sound.

Adam Jensen is a talent that we are sure to hear from again and again, his vocals and melodic prose are a gift that keeps giving. Keep him on the radar for future shows.

ROBIN TROWER: MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER

Robin Trower

 released his latest studio album 2/5/2013.

ROOT S AND BRACHES .  The British born guitar slinger of Rock, Blues, and Blues-Rock stepped it down to a mellow album of cover songs by Blues/Rocks greats and few of his own. You will love his rendition of ‘Hound Dog’, and ‘The Thrill is Gone’, ‘Save Your Love’ and more.

Trower, formerly associated with Procol Harum and The Paramounts, and Jack Bruce of Cream before taking on a solo career in 1973. As an influential guitarist (Fender Stratocaster) Trower, a musician, vocalist, songwriter and band leader, has been compared to Jimi Hendrix in his guitar playing style in his day.

The aging rocker still has skills; the melodic rocking soul from the fingertips of Trower definitely has merit, his resonating Fender is primed and skillfully blended with covers of yesterday to bring us possibly the best laid tracks of his career on Roots and Branches.

LUKE MCMASTER: SINGER/SONGWRITER

LUKE McMASTER, released his debut album ALL ROADS, out 1/18/2013.  The Singer/Songwriter from Canada writes music, but this album is mostly covers. The major highlights of the album is his single, ‘Good Moring Beautiful’, co –written with the piano sensation Jim Brickman,  an immediate hit. A lively tune, that you can’t help but sing along to the melody. He also recorded a Christmas version, same melody, ‘Merry Christmas Beautiful’.  Another track on the album written by McMaster, is ‘Tuscan Skis’ a melodious tune featuring Mediterranean guitar virtuoso Pavlo.  Both are must have downloads, from this new artists.

The blue eyed soul singer, attributes his musical influences to Al Green, Bob Marley, Hall & Oates, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and various others. The Adult Contemporary artist does a jazzy pop that most of us can identify with.  This guy is definitely some one to keep on your radar, for future hits.

CHARLIE WILSON: SINGER/SONGWRITER

Charlie Wilson, released his 6^th Studio solo album, LOVE CHARLIE, out 1/25/2013.The single ‘My Love Is All I Have’ released 10/30/2012,  is currently sitting at the #44 spot on Billboards top 100 R&B/HipHop listings.

This album is simply elegant, romantic, with sexy vocals integrated with lyrics that are all about love.  He show’s off his range, with ballads like ‘I Believe’ and ‘I Still Have You’, and still FUNKY with ‘My Baby’.

The American Singer/Songwriter, Producer and former lead singer of the Gap Band is passionate in his melodious toe tapping delivery, typical Charlie Wilson, but so much better. He is really getting better with age. He may have just turned 60, but the guy has it going on for him. His vocals/music sound is current, but with the class of the old style RnB sounds from the 70’s. He is a top notch performer and writer.

Charlie is an avid advocate for cancer screening in men after his diagnoses in 2008 with prostrate cancer. Today cancer free, he is the National Spokesman for the Prostrate Cancer Foundation.

Charlie says “I’m still living this dream, I’m still going to the stage and I’m still having fun, I’m not there just to pick up the check. It’s about the passion and the respect that I have for the game. It keeps me going”
