RONALD ISLEY: SINGER/SONGWRITER

Ronald Isley:  Singer/ Songwriter, released his 3rd Studio album as a solo artist, out 7/16/2013 THIS SONG IS FOR YOU.
Isley, is the lead singer and founding member of the very famous “ISLEY BROTHERS”.  (1954-present)

Single Release: ‘Dinner and a Movie’

Isley at the age of 72 is still doing his thing. His voice may not be as strong as it was, and the back-up vocals sometimes over-power his voice, but his falsetto is still memorable and worthy of a solo album. Kem and Trey Songz are featured on the album, with some very talented back-up singers.

‘Lay you Down’ (Feat. Trey Songz)

At the age of 65, Isley was sentenced to prison for tax evasion to the tune of three years and one month (2006), and was ordered to pay back $3.1 Million in back taxes to the IRS.  Because of his ill health (Kidney Cancer, and complications from a stroke) he was sentenced to a prison hospital.

You may find the following story posted in the Wall Street Journal a bit ironic, considering the fact he also filed for bankruptcy in 1997.

“SOUL SURVIVOR” From the Wall Street Journal by MARC MEYERS 7/15/2013
Moments after Kandy Isley invited me into the 14,000-square-foot home she shares with her singer-songwriter husband and their 6-year-old son, Ronald Isley appeared wearing a pair of blue-framed Gucci sunglasses. Dressed in a turquoise Versace sweater over a white T-shirt, designer white jeans, black leather Ferragamo loafers and a gold medallion necklace, Mr. Isley looked every bit the soul star whose cooing falsetto influenced the Beatles more than 50 years ago.

Mayer Hawthorne:  Singer, Songwriter, & Multi-instrumentalist, and very good Vocalist, released his latest  album (deluxe version)  iTunes yesterday 7/16/2013
“WHERE DOES THIS DOOR GO The deluxe album comes with five bonus tracks.

This album is totally different than his previous albums and he’s receiving flack for the change-up, but if you listen to it, it is quality stuff.  A little 1980’s Steely Dan’-ish,  refreshing to hear something different from Hawthorne, although he excels at his modern version of Motown.

While the album does not follow along the lines of previous albums it is fun energetic, danceable and good listening.   See video of the single release ‘Her Favorite Song’

Rolling Stone Magazine:  Dan Hymans interview with Mayer Hawthorne

Hawthorne's writing and recording process changed noticeably for the album, too. "This was the first time ever in my career that I've had a surplus of songs," he says. "For the first two albums, it was like, 'Oh shit, we have nine songs and I need to write one more so I can have enough for a whole album,' you know?" On past albums, Hawthorne says, he played nearly every instrument on the albums. Working with a dream team of producers for Where Does This Door Go, including Pharrell Williams ("He really got me to focus on the storytelling aspect"), helped Hawthorne refine his focus. "This time it was like a completely different experience working with all these other producers," he says. "It took a lot of the work out of my hands when I'm not doing everything myself. It helped to just focus on being creative and writing."

HARRY CONNICK JR:: SINGER/SONGWRITER

HARRY CONNICK JR:  Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Conductor, Pianist, and Actor released his 30th studio Album”Every Man Should Know”  June 7,2013. The New Orleans native has sold over 25 million albums in his renowned career, and is destined to continue to sell albums well into the ages, as his particular genre is ageless.

All songs on the album are written by Connick, which is an eclectic collection of Jazz, Bosa Nova, Country, Pop, lightweight Funk, and his native Zydeco.  He says this is his most personal undertaking so far.

The ageless crooner is the father of 3 girls, ages 17, 16 & 11, which keeps him humble, and he is also the son of a former Supreme Court Justice and the former Orleans D.A., so a recent stint on “LAW and ORDER” seems to fit right in with his life experience.

Did you know that Connick provided the sound track for the movie “ When Harry Met Sally” when he was only 21-22 years old, starring Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal?

The 3 time Grammy winner has 10 Grammy nominations and countless awards and accolades recognizing his multi-talented abilities as a musician, no doubt another one in the works for this album, as the laid-back singer/songwriter draws you into his sphere with his interpretation of  music  "Every Man Should Know".

On Tour this summer look for him in your area.
