Just out Jon Cleary’s latest album OCCAPELLA (4/17/2012). This album is not to be mistaken for
a Cappella, (Music without instrumentation). The R&B, Funkster and his band
the ‘Absolute Monster
Gentlemen’ keep the Mississippi rolling with their latest version of
New Orleans rock & soul.
After 20 years of studying the music cultural of New Orleans,
the British born Cleary is in his groove at the piano, with his band, originally
from the New Orleans area. His unique sound and delivery bring a southern Delta
groove that works, from swampy undertones to some classy renditions of soul.
His version of “Southern
Nights” (AllanToussiant /Glen Campbell) is the best modern day recording out
there. He made it current and seemingly original, a classy contemporary number.
Love the piano! Cleary knows his way around the keyboard
This album brings us so many good tunes, each with the
flavor of the ‘Big Easy’
“Everything I do Gonh
Be Funky”, move over, the funkster is back.
“I’M Gone” Cleary
rocks it out with a catchy melody and vocals, but also
“Poor Boy Got To Move”, “Wrong Number”, “When
the Party’s Over”, plus more.
If you want to feel like you are in the heart of New Orleans
music, it’s all here in this album. Jon Cleary’s got it!
