Spin Doctors, released their 6th
studio album IF THE RIVER WAS WHISKEY,
out 4/30/2013, their first album in eight years.
You may remember them from POCKET FULL OF KRYPTONITE which debuted in 1991. 22 years
later they are still making music, and this time the Alternative Rock, Funk Rock,
Jam Rock band bring us an all blues album.
They had a slew of singles that kept them on the radio waves
in the late 80’s and early 90’s; ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’ 1992, ‘Two Princes’1993, ‘Jimmy
Olsen’s Blues’ 1993, ‘Mary Jane’ 1994, She Used to Be Mine’ 1996, and
more. They were a popular jam group, and fans just loved them on the radio and live prformances.
Band members:
·
Eric Schenkman – lead guitar, vocals (1988–1994,
2001–present)
·
Chris Barron – lead vocals, guitar (1988–present)
·
Aaron Comess – drums, percussion (1988–present)
·
Mark White – bass guitar (1988–1998,
2001–present)
They had some hard times along the way when lead singer Chris Barron
lost his voice due to a rare vocal cord paralysis that affected his ability to
talk let alone sing. In this time they
each went their own way to do projects on their own, but they are back together
and singing the blues.
The Blues Rock Review :
“Their 20+ year tenure crafted the mature and fluid sound found
throughout the entire album that does not disappoint. The album consists of ten
songs with no apparent weak point, just continual jam after jam. It is clear these
guys are meant to work together and knew what they wanted to do with this
album. With a new album comes a slew of spring and summer tour dates for the
Spin Doctors”.
