JOHN
HIATT: The Indiana native released his 21st studio album MYSTIC PINBALL, Sept 2012. The 5
time Grammy nominee brings his storytelling into focus with his wide range of appeal
from American Rock, Folk Rock, Country Rock, Blues Rock and Heartland Rock
incorporated into the lyrics and melodies of love, loss, and happiness.
With
40 some years in the business, Hiatt says he is getting older and he has less
& less time, so he needs to make more and more records. He is on a pace, putting out an album per
year, the last 3 years (2010,2011,2012), Daisy
his cow, can’t keep up with him.
His
distinctive rasp, and gritty vocals are less subversive this time around, and not that memorable. It is a bread and butter
type of album, with no real surprises, but it is not bad, it is distinctively
John Hiatt, what he does best..
‘We’re
Alright Now’ , his single from the album came out earlier this summer. It's a sing-a-long, and sure to be recorded
by others. Hiatt is lively, funky, funny telling stories like ‘Wood Chipper’, ‘No Wicked Grin’, ‘I Just
Know What To Say’, ‘Bite Marks’, ‘It All Comes Back Someday’, and more.
Hiatt’s
real claim to fame is his song writing: His songs have been covered by a variety of artists in
multiple genres, including Bob
