Ryan Lerman released his debut album PINSTRIPES, THE SKY, 6/27/2012. The alternative, Indie pop,
singer/songwriter from L.A. is a talented, versatile artist, whom releases videos
of his songs on YouTube. Lerman has been
posting his home made videos for a while, and finally put them together for this album.
iTunes list the album by Ry Collins, which may be a
pseudonym for Ryan Lerman, or an error.
References to Ry Collins go back to Ryan Lerman, with no explanation. There
seems to be a little confusion on who he really is, other than a friend, and
bassist of Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five). The
album lists Ryan Lerman as the writer, producer, arranger, performer, mixer and
mastering the album. Not much information on the guy, except he is all
about social networking with a Twitter account: Twitter.com/rytown, Facebook
and MySpace accounts, and the videos
posted on YouTube, and associations with other groups or singers.
Lerman comes up on Wikipedia as an associated act of the
group Pomplamoose, (Internet Music Market) which includes Ben Folds, Nately Dawn and a host of others who regularly post on YouTube to get their music out
there.
The artist Lerman appears to perform all the instrumentation
for his recordings and is not associated with any record label. He features Ben Folds, on drums & piano (‘Do
With You’) and Nately Dawn (‘Baby It’ll Be Alright’) on this album. These 2 tracks make it clear he is a talent to keep on the radar. Not every song
is worth the price of a download, most of the album feature ballads, and not catchy
enough to be pop, but a couple may make the mainstream. See the videos to decide for yourself.
