La Roux, MUSIC GROUP
I was not familiar or a follower of this group, but curious because they are nominated for two Grammy’s this year to be reveled February 2011, so I checked them out.
They are yet another band from the UK, La Roux (pronounced la:ru), consists of lead singer Elly Jackson, and Ben Langmaid, producer/composer, classified as Electropop-Synthpop Dance music. The band also includes 2 keyboard players and a drummer, and they are nominated for (1) Best Dance Recording “In For The Kill” and (2) Best Electronic/Dance Album “LaRoux”.
“In For The Kill” is high pitched singing with a good beats, but is dance friendly. If this is your thing, then it is a good one. Of the entire album, I liked “Bulletproof” no high pitched signing, and it was in fact pretty good. It was different, yet danceable. If I were to download any of the tunes, it would be “Bulletproof”.
They have some heavy competition in the best dance recording group with Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Robyn & Goldfrapp.
For the people into clubbing/dance scenes this is for you, I found the high pitch singing annoying.
The Category Best Electronic Dance is just that, music that gyrates to the same beat, and each artist makes it their own, enhanced with electronic instrumentation.
*** Not that bad, just not my taste.
