THE CIVIL WARS: FOLK DUO

The Civil Wars:  Folk Duo
The Civil Wars are a new and up and coming group with the Folk/Roots Music trend going on right now.  If you are sick and tired of Hip Hop, Rap, Dance, Funk, Electro-Pop, and Auto-Tune, and want a dramatic change, here it is.
Joy Williams and John Paul White formed the group Civil Wars in February 2009. Both of them had separate somewhat uneventful careers prior to forming the group. Joy, a singer /songwriter and piano player and John, singer/songwriter, guitar man, and kind of resembles Johnny Depp, together are an exciting folk duo.
Just out February 2011 BARTON HALLOW, their first full length studio album that opened to great reviews for the folk duo. The serendipitous harmonies are clear, pleasant with simple accompaniment on the guitar, piano, and sometime violin and tambourine can be heard.
Prior to forming the Civil Wars, they were both contracted songwriters and musicians each with separate interests. They are both talented and have great singing voices, yet the previous music they put out was not obvious enough to make them unique in a crowd of recording artist, but together their exquisite harmony has created music you notice.
Popular downloads:  “20 Years” Excellent vocals harmonies, soft upbeat rhythms, with simple guitar.
“Poison & Wine” Nice harmony, piano, very slow moving, not a favorite.
“Barton Hallow” Upbeat swamp rock,nice.
With the huge trend in roots music today you will hear more from the Civil Wars and groups showcasing basic singing/talent with a simple down home flavor. The Civil Wars are a group to watch in this trend market.
