STEVIE NIMMO: SINGER/SONGWRITER/MUSICIAN

Stevie Nimmo:  Singer/Songwriter
NIMMO BROTHERS BLUES BAND
Stevie Nimmo is the front man for the Nimmo Brothers (with brother Alan) Blues Rock, Electric Blues Band. A Texas Style Blues Band out of Glasgow Scotland. That’s right, Texas Blues from Scotland.  When you listen to them, you would never know they are not an American Blues Rock Band.  Stevie a self taught musician who says it is easier for him to express himself through his music, formed the band with his brother Alan 15 years ago. They have 5 electric and acoustic albums to their credit, and they are a leading Blues Rock Bank in the UK.
Their Last album PICKING UP THE PIECES was released July 2009. While not a big hit in the USA, they have some interesting, yet somewhat familiar songs on the CD. They mimic licks/riffs of the late/great Stevie Ray Vaughn, and other well known American Blues Rock icons. While they mimic the initial sound, the lyrics are their own and they have some interesting twists embedded, so once you hear a familiar lick/riff in the background it goes in a total different direction than you may think. The talented Stevie is an excellent vocalist, musician, and songwriter.
Now living in France, Stevie Nimmo was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and was forced to slow down, and spend a few months recovering from major surgery. He said he would be focusing on his music and which direction he wanted to go.
The Result:  THE WYNDS OF LIFE his first solo album, released in September 2010. This album is an about face from the blues/rock genre. It is primarily ballads and love songs which may reflect on his bout with cancer and maybe some soul searching after his dramatic illness. He wrote songs like “Long Road To Heaven”, “Coming Home To You”, “It’s A Hard Life” and “Everything Is Going To Be Alright”. The Album sounds more like American root music, with a country/gospel flare. It is OK, but a far cry from the intense blues rock band.  This Album was recorded in Austin Texas, and released in the UK.
Hopefully Stevie will get well and not have to worry about his health and get back to singing and playing the blues, blues rock, and electric blues the Nimmo Brothers are known for. Maybe he would at least include some of it among the ballads and love songs, to put some life back into his/their music.
