RYAN SHAW: R&B SOUL

RYAN SHAW:   TRADITIONAL R&B,R/B SOUL
Ryan Shaw: This guy puts everything he’s got into each and every song. He is a real singer and makes old R/B soul contemporary with his powerful voice. No AutoTune, no gimmicks just strong vocals that make you sit up and take notice.  Reminiscent of the sounds of Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, and Wilson Pickett, he says he is into chords, melodies, lyrics and arrangements. The young R/B singer has a quality that you don’t see much of these days; he actually sings using more than 2 chords in his music.  In fact, he may not make it in the US as a POP R/B singer, because he does not incorporate the gimmicks of other artists, and so far has not infused Rap or Hip Hop into his sound.   He will be much loved in Europe where traditional blues and R&B soul are treasured.
A former Pentecostal gospel singer, he has been singing God’s praises since the age of 3. He did not have the exposure to the secular music until his later years of youth, because of strict religious beliefs of his family.  He leans to the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s sound because he enjoys the positive reactions he gets from people when they hear him sing familiar songs.
Ryan has his second Grammy nomination 2011, for the Best Traditional R/B Vocal Performance for “In Between” from his second Album IN BETWEEN, which is a 6 song CD out in October 2009.
His first CD titled: THIS IS RYAN SHAW, is mostly cover tracks made famous by other artist, with a few originals.  He was nominated for Best Traditional R/B Vocal Performance for “I am Your Man” in 2008.
Rumor has it he will release the single “Morning Noon & Night” from the IN BETWEEN album early 2011.  This song has the feel of Sam Cooke, but with Ryan’s rich vocals and a feel good melody that seems familiar in a good way. You will definitely want this song on your iPod to listen to more than once.
It will be fun to follow Ryan Shaw and see if he will stay with the traditional R/B or if he will move into the Hip Hop, AutoTune sounds of today which sell or stay where his voice seems to be the perfect match.
