2011 GRAMMY SONG OF THE YEAR

GRAMMY 2011:  SONG OF THE YEAR

Nominee’s: Song/Artist

  1. BEG STEAL OR BORROW: Ray LaMontagne
  2. F***YOU: Cee Lo Green
  3. THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME: Miranda Lambert
  4. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE:  Eminem, featuring Rihanna
  5. NEED YOU KNOW:  Lady Antebellum

There is so much good music out there, it is hard to believe this is all Grammy could come up with??? Should F***YOU be the song of the Year?
Come on, get real.  I can just hear the kids on the block singing this tune!

BEG STEAL OR BORROW:  Ray LaMontagne is a soft spoken, raspy voice Folk singer with a Blues/Rock kind of feel.   Beg Steel or Borrow, is a little reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, or Kenny Loggins. Something from the past, but can’t put my finger on it, in a good kind of way.

F***YOU: Cee Lo Green’s number is a very catchy tune, and not sure if the F***YOU is supposed to shock us, or what? But it did get Grammy’s attention. The album is actually musical with several featured artist, and fun. Cee Lo Green is no longer a little boy and the shock value of F****You, is not there, and only demonstrates poor taste. I missed something in this CD, because I read a comment that it was genius? Not sure which part they meant, I must have missed that something?

THE HOUSE THAT BUILT: Miranda Lambert has the Texas twang, but she can belt out a song as good as any of her country cohorts. This number is an intimate song of the stuff she is made up of.  I am not always a country fan, especially when it is twang and tears, but she sounds like an adult singing a country song compared the 12 year old voice and child like ideals of Taylor Swift.  Maybe Grammy got this one right from a country point of view?

LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE:  Again if you are into beating, burning, cussing, and all that violent kind of stuff in a relationship, this is your perfect song.

NEED YOU KNOW:  I can hardly say anymore about this one.  Now it seems almost overdone. Been there, did that, kind of feeling, but it is a popular tune and every time I hear it, I sing along with it. It is one of the better choices for the win in this category.
