2011 GRAMMY BEST MALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE

2011 GRAMMY:  BEST MALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE

NOMINEE’S: ARTIST/SONG

  1. Michael Bublé-HAVEN’T MET YOU YET
  2. Michael Jackson-THIS IS IT
  3. Adam Lambert-WHATAYA WANT FROM ME
  4. Bruno Mars-JUST THE WAY YOU ARE
  5. John Mayer-HALF OF MY HEART

Michael Bublé:  I like him, I like the song. It’s catchy and the type of song you sing along with, and I think a good representation of the category. He’s been around and will be around for a long time. He is appealing to many generations.

Michael Jackson: He will probably win because of his unfortunate death last year.  Once dubed the "King of Pop" he may get the sympathy vote, and it could be a way to recognize him for his years of contribution, and makeup for all the crap that went on in the media.   It is a tragedy that he is gone, and the way he went, but is his performance really better than the rest? I don’t think it is his best performance, but the recognition factor is there.

Adam Lambert: Runner up on American Idol, he was mesmerizing then and proves to be   an interesting fellow now.  I like this song and do have it on my ipod, while he may be a bit flamboyant for some folks; he can sing and does a good job on this particular song.

Bruno Mars:  While he does ok with this song, he has many more that are a lot better.  Not sure why they grouped “Just the Way You Are” with Best Pop Male Performance, he is better than this one performance.  Based on this performance, he is not the winner in this category.

John Mayer: Again this song choice for vocal performance is not mine. He has better, although the entire album BATTLE STUDIES, sounds more like something he gave us before. Not his best effort or his best vocal performance.

I am leaning toward Michael Bublé or Adam Lambert to bring home the award, but Michael Jackson will probably get it this time.
